03 KITCHENS TO SLOW DOWN IN!

When I am designing kitchens for today's life of a mod family, I always ask the client how much time they spend in the kitchen, and how do they see their new kitchen being used? I think whether you are a budding chef, have a large or small family and or love to entertain, your kitchen should rise up to meet you with inspiration. An organized kitchen with plenty of work space and good material selection should start with a solid logical plan. There is always challenges when dealing with too much volume or too little, and It’s completely amazing what you can do with what volume you are given. My very busy clients wanted a kitchen that embodies warm modernism with a ton of work surface for cooking. The open plan kitchen had to function well for family life, entertaining and a lot of baking! They wanted to try to be environmentally conscious whenever possible, so the 100% recycled counter-tops were chosen among other responsible materials throughout their home.

Another passion of mine? Designing fireplaces as a kitchen focal point (if the space permits). A wood fireplace can be a very cool idea to integrate as secondary cooking area. Can you visualize  authentic pizzas and French bread?? Check out a great example (located to the side of the blog) in HOUZZ of a unique kitchen project which embodies all the qualities of mod living. The designers ideas showcase the selection of perfect material choices.  Wood beams and fire are the perfect combination for getting inspired in the kitchen!!!
